Manistee River Fishing

• Fishing on this broad and natural flowing river is excellent for the family and avid anglers. The river is 26 miles long and ends at Lake Michigan, featuring plenty of river access points along the river.
• The most prolific fish on this gorgeous large stream is the running salmon and steelhead trout. However, we recommend grabbing a lighter rod and access the river near Mancelona Road for a fantastic Brook Trout fishing experience.

St. Joseph River Fishing

• The "St. Joe" is a reasonably large river running at the southwest portion of the state for 206 miles long and is stocked full of Steelhead Trout, which can make for some memorable fishing trips in the early days of spring.
• If trout fishing isn't on the menu, try casting near the upstream portions, near Bristol, of the river for Smallmouth Bass. The anglers catching fish the most focus on the banks, making sure to pitch the bait close to the shores in about 3 feet of water.

Lake St. Clair Fishing

• While some lakes share another state, this is a lake that shares another country, Canada. If you are fishing only in United States waters, then you can purchase a fishing license through most outdoor sporting good stores or online through the Michigan Department of Natural Resources.
• If you and your charter fishing captain will be taking the charter boat into Canadian waters, then you will need a non-resident fishing license from Ontario. Ontario offers an online system for purchasing a license.

Lake Huron Fishing

• Michigan fishing charters on Lake Huron help make this one of the best fishing lakes in the state. The work of the fishing guides and game and fish department has helped bring one of our nation’s largest inland lakes from the brink of low fishing populations, from overfishing to a once again thriving fish population.
• As this walleye lake has come back to life, Migrate Outfitters recommends trying Saginaw Bay for walleye fishing. For Lake Trout and Brown Trout, the fishing spots near Rogers City, using a silver spoon.

Other Fishing Spots

• Burt Lake, Detroit River, Gun Lake, Marble Lake, Hamlin Lake, and Burt Lake

• A license is required for any angler 17 years or older to fish for any species. Residents and non-residents have the same pricing for a 24 hour ($10 )and 72-hour fishing license ($30). If you're a non-resident, though, you will need to purchase a SPORT CARD for an additional $1.00.
• An annual fishing license is different amounts, and for residents, it costs $26, while a non-resident yearly fishing license costs $76.
• Permits for Sturgeon or tags for harvest are no longer required, but you must register your catch within 24 hours.
• Michigan lakes and Great Lakes can have numerous rules and regulations, especially when you are fishing in the border lakes. It is essential always to do your research online and consult with your fishing captain about the local laws and ethics.
